Dollar General To Bring New Concept To West End Avenue
Goodlettsville-based Dollar General Corp inked a lease for part of the former TGI Friday's restaurant space at West End and 21st avenues, and plans to put the first of its new, smaller-format store concepts there. Tentatively called DGX, the prototype will have a 3,400 SF sales floor that targets shoppers with low prices on essential items in an easy-to-shop format, the Tennessean reports.
The offerings will include a limited selection of groceries, pet supplies, candies and snacks, paper products, home cleaning supplies, and a health and beauty section. The store will also probably carry an assortment of home, electronics and seasonal offerings not usually found in quick-trip discount stores.
PizzaRev is expected to take the remainder of the 8k SF space where TGI Friday's used to be. The franchised location of the LA-based craft-your-own-pizza restaurant concept is expected to open in the second quarter of next year. [Tennessean]
