Ambitious Metro Transit Plan Unveiled
Capping 16 months of planning and discussion, the Nashville MTA and the Regional Transportation Authority of Middle Tennessee released their transit plan for the region, known as nMotion. The process was a massive undertaking, involving 35 technical documents and studies, and more than 18,000 survey responses and comments.
If the plan comes to fruition, the results will be massive as well. The nMotion plan calls for 200 miles of pedestrian improvements and a high-capacity transit network with 46 miles of light rail, 98 miles of freeway bus rapid transit, 82 miles of arterial bus rapid transit, and 150 miles of express bus-on-shoulder. The estimated cost? Nearly $6B over the next 25 years. The plan is open for comments at the nMotion website for the next 30 days.
