Morgan Stanley Investment Management To Acquire Mesa West Capital
Morgan Stanley Investment Management plans to acquire LA-based Mesa West Capital.
Mesa West, which has more than $5B in gross assets under management, will keep its own brand and remain in LA, operating as a separate business unit in Morgan Stanley Investment Management's Real Assets group. Mesa West also has offices in Chicago and New York.
Mesa West senior management, led by co-founders Jeff Friedman and Mark Zytko, will continue to manage the company on a daily basis.
The Real Assets group is led by Morgan Stanley Investment Management Global Head of Real Assets John Klopp and manages $47B of client assets.
“Morgan Stanley Investment Management is dedicated to providing clients with differentiated investment solutions, and Mesa West is a perfect addition to our suite of strategies across real assets and private credit,” Morgan Stanley Investment Management head Dan Simkowitz said in a statement.
Mesa West's offerings include its commercial real estate credit platform and other real assets and private credit products.
The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
