Stocks Rise Toward Record Levels Monday Morning And Oil Advances
Stocks opened trading this morning near record levels, though the dollar dropped as investors held off betting on higher interest rates after US economic results were weaker than expected. Oil gained.
The S&P 500 extended the rally this year while MSCI Emerging Markets Index rose to its highest levels in more than a year. The S&P opened Monday morning up 0.1% and the MSCI advanced 0.4%, its eighth day of gains since July 2015.
Oil gained on theories producers are resuming talks to stabilize prices. West Texas Intermediate futures gained 0.6% to $44.75 a barrel, Bloomberg reports. [Bloomberg]
