HPI, a Texas-based full-service real estate firm, has been interested in setting up shop in Fort Worth but needed to find a person committed to the community to lead the efforts, according to a company press release.

Cue McCoy.

“Everything we do starts with people, and Colt McCoy is the ideal leader,” HPI partner and Senior Managing Director Hunter Lee said in the release. “I’ve never met anyone more ‘as advertised’ than Colt  as a person, as a father, and as a man of faith. He’s honest, community-minded, and wants to make an impact in planting the HPI flag in Fort Worth.”

HPI will initially focus on industrial properties in Fort Worth but plans to build a full-service platform in the city, from third-party leasing and management to development and acquisition. The company is active in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston, and it has grown to serve 900 clients across nearly 30M SF since its founding in 1992.

McCoy is well known throughout Texas and by college football fans for his tenure at the University of Texas from 2005 to 2009. The two-time All-American finished in the top three of Heisman Trophy voting twice and is one of six former Longhorns to have their numbers retired by the university.

After his college career, the Cleveland Browns selected McCoy in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft. He played 13 seasons in the NFL for five different teams, serving largely as a backup before officially retiring in August.

“In football, you expect to win, and you play to win every week. It will be no different as we build out this team,” McCoy said in the release.

“If you look at any good organization or team, it comes down to finding people with common goals, passion, and a shared vision. I’ve always loved playing quarterback, and HPI is letting me do that as we build out the Fort Worth presence. Real estate has no boundaries. I’m excited about this next chapter.”
