Here's The Only Black Billionaire Among The World's 50 Richest People
Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote is the only black billionaire on Wealth-X’s list of the world’s 50 richest people. He's built a $14.3B fortune through commercial plants.
Most of his money comes from his $2.4B company Dangote Cement, which owns cement plants in Zambia, Senegal, Tanzania and South Africa. In 2011, he invested $4B in a facility in the Ivory Coast, Business Insider reports.
Dangote has been CEO and president of Dangote Group for 35 years, and also chairs The Dangote Foundation, a charity conducting education, agriculture and health initiatives.
Bill Gates, the world's richest man, says Dangote's business activities drive economic growth across the continent. “I know him best as a leader constantly in search of ways to bridge the gap between private business and public health,” Gates says. [BI]
