This Law Firm Wants $3M For Selling Late Billionaire's Real Estate
High-powered international law firm Reed Smith wants $3M to untangle the estate of deceased billionaire venture capitalist and former Yale economist Pentti Kouri.
Over 40 Reed Smith lawyers spent the last six years cleaning up Kouri’s mess, which included selling his Soho loft for $10.5M, the New York Post reports.
Kouri became a billionaire through a lucrative partnership with fellow billionaire George Soros in the '80s, followed by big dot-com bubble scores in the '90s, according to court papers.
Despite the estate being bankrupt, firm wants to justify the sky-high fee in court, citing “legal ingenuity.” [NYP]
