Report: In Real Estate, "Sexy" Sells More Than "Love"
Here's a tip for brokers: When it comes to luxury real estate, "sex" sells better than "love."
Researchers at Realtor.com analyzed 1.6M home listings and found if the word "sexy" was in the property description, the house sold on average for $620k; properties that were described as "lovely," instead, had a median asking price of $264k.
"Love is basic," researcher Javier Vivas told the Wall Street Journal. "It’s a pre-canned pitch to generically describe something beautiful."
Other power words? Properties with the word "romance" listed for a median price of $820k, while "seductive" listed for $640k. [WSJ]
