John Angelo, Co-Founder of Angelo Gordon & Co, Dies at 74
John Angelo, co-founder and CEO of Angelo Gordon & Co, died at the age of 74 on Friday, after being treated for cancer for some time.
John was born in Manhattan on June 3, 1941, graduating from St. Lawrence University in 1963.
He started his Wall Street experience in 1966 on the NYSE bond floor, then managed L.F. Rothschild’s proprietary capital in world markets—focusing on varying securities.
John founded Angelo Gordon with Michael Gordon in 1988, and had directed Sotheby’s auction house since 2007.
John was part of a regular golf group with President George W. Bush. Mary Pat Christie, the wife of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie served as a managing director at Angelo Gordon. [NYT]
