Major Government Real Estate Agency Budgets $1.5B For Commercial Real Estate Investments
We're hardly into 2016, but the US General Services Administration already has a proposed 2017 budget—and it includes $1.5B in commercial real estate investments.
The biggest item on the proposed tab—which isn't final—is a $759M FBI HQ project, CoStar reports.
The GSA handles property leasing and purchases for most federal agencies. Its 376.9M SF public portfolio is one of the largest and most diversified of its kind.
The proposed budget includes several other multimillion-dollar projects, including a $267M new HQ for FEMA and a $248M expansion of a major California land port, the Calexico West Land Port of Entry. [CoStar]
