People On The Move: These Industry Leaders Have Recently Changed Top CRE Firms

    There's nothing wrong with a little healthy competition, and these industry leaders know it. Within the past several weeks, dozens of company execs and brokers have made big moves—changing companies and moving up in rank. Check out these leadership changes from some of the top companies in commercial real estate.

    Fred Smith, NGKF

    Fred Smith, Newmark Grubbs

    Industry veteran Fred Smith was lured away from Cushman & Wakefield last month by Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

    Fred made the switch after working for 31 years at C&W as an office leasing broker, rising to vice chairman. He will continue to hold that title at Newmark.

    Maureen Waters, Ten-X

    Maureen Rivers, Ten-X

    Formerly at Bill Gates Investments, and before that Cushman & Wakefield for 15 years, Maureen Waters has been appointed CMO of Ten-X's commercial division. 

    Maureen came aboard earlier this month and will help market the firm's overall business strategy and provide additional strategic insight.

    Dan Moore, The Rockefeller Group

    Dan Moore Rockefeller Group

    Hines DC managing director Dan Moore was hired by New York City's The Rockefeller Group—famed developer of Rockefeller Center.

    The firm plans to use his expertise to expand into the market and begin developing properties in DC, as well as other US gateway markets.

    Melissa Ruther and Mary Bresnahan, CBRE

    People On The Move: These Industry Leaders Have Recently Changed Top CRE Firms

    Both Melissa Ruther (pictured left) and Mary Bresnahan were hired as vice presidents at CBRE this month. 

    Combined, Melissa and Mary bring 31 years of commercial real estate experience from former firm JLL—Melissa in leasing and tenant representation and Mary in retail brokering. The two have joined CBRE’s retail services team in Cincinnati and Columbus.

    Bart Drummond, NGKF

    Bart Drummond NGKF

    Newmark Grubb Knight Frank has hired Bart Drummond as an executive managing director to focus on DC-area tenant representation.

    Bart, who has worked on some of DC's biggest deals over the past year, leaves his role as executive director with Cushman & Wakefield's tenant advisory group to join NGKF's DC office. He's shown above with his daughter Olivia.
