Real Estate Capital Awards: These US Firms Did The Biggest Deals In 2015
Ever year London-based magazine Real Estate Capital recognizes the biggest and best capital transactions in the industry, from CMBS loan issuances to mezzanine lending. This year the magazine recognized a number of US heavyweights, from Blackstone to SL Green. Check out who else made the cut for the 2015 Real Estate Capital Awards.
Blackstone provided a $320M first mortgage loan to refinance part of NYC's iconic Woolworth Building in May 2015, covering the office component of the building from the ground floor to the 28th.
Jeff DiModica's arrival at Starwood Property Trust as president in 2014 was quite the shake-up, and it was a good one—the company finalized just over $5B in acquisitions last year.
Some of SL Green's best lending deals closed last year, including one of the largest in NYC—a $1.4B fixed-rate, 10-year loan on 11 Madison Ave along with another fixed-rate, 10-year loan on 3 Columbus Circle (pictured).
Top broker Eastdil Secured beat all other firms in this category last year, while setting a NYC record of $22.7B in 56 deals.
The investment bank handled $17.2B in deals taking up 18.25% of the market, and contributed $8.9B total to CMBS deals in 2015—just behind the biggest lender, JP Morgan, at $10.9B.
