Starchitect Bjarke Ingels Makes Time’s 100 Most Influential People
Bjarke Ingles landed a spot on Time’s “The 100 Most Influential People” as an artist for his work as an architect.
Calling Bjarke the “Highflyer of Skylines,” Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas says the starchitect is the “embodiment of a fully fledged new typology, which responds perfectly to the current zeitgeist. Bjarke is the first major architect who disconnected the profession completely from angst.”
One of Bjarke's biggest gigs was designing 2 World Trade Center, the final component in the rebuilding and revitalization of Lower Manhattan. The 1,340-foot structure will frame the 9/11 memorial along with the 1, 3 and 4 WTC buildings.
And Bjarke has big plans for the future—he’s currently working on VIA 57 West, a NYC 860k SF pyramid-shaped housing project in Hell's Kitchen. [Time]
