These Are The Tallest Buildings In The World To Be Completed In 2016

    Cities across the world are changing their skylines. More skyscrapers were completed last year than any year prior, according to the latest report from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. The report revealed that 128 buildings topping out at over 650 feet were constructed in 2016, from China to Russia (though mostly China). Take a closer look at the five tallest.

    1. Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre

    Location: Guangzhou, China

    Height: 1,739 feet

    Developer/Owner: New World Development Co Ltd, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises

    The second-tallest building in China and the fifth-tallest in the world, the Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre contains hotel, residential and office space. The tower boasts 111 floors and 86 elevators and was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.

    2. Eton Place Dalian Tower 1

    Location: Dalia, China

    Height: 1,257 feet

    Developer/Owner: Eton Properties Limited, Pavilion

    Eton Place Dalian Tower 1 stands 80 floors high and is the 24th-tallest building in the world. Serving as the central unifying element of the Eton Place complex, Tower 1 includes office space and two hotels: one five-star hotel with 200 rooms and the Eton Hotel with about 600 rooms.

    3. Vostok Tower

    Location: Moscow, Russia

    Height: 1,226 feet

    Developer/Owner: Mirax Group, AEON Corp

    The only tower not in China to make the list, Vostok Tower of Moscow's Federation Towers is the tallest building in Europe. The tower is the first Russian building to utilize super-high-strength concrete and offers both residential and office space.

    4. Tianjin Modern City Office Tower

    Location: Tianjin, China

    Height: 1,109 feet

    Developer/Owner: Tianjin Modern Group Co Limited

    Tianjin Modern City Office Tower, part of the Tianjin Modern City complex, is the largest building in Tianjin and the 20th-tallest in China. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill designed the 65-floor tower, and JLL manages the property.

    5. Global City Square

    Location: Guangzhou, China

    Height: 1,046 feet

    Developer/Owner: Guangzhou Tian Jian Real Estate Development

    Global City Square, also known as Zhujiang New City Tower, is the fifth-tallest building in Guangzhou and the 66th-tallest in the world. An office building with a retail podium, Global City Square rises 67 floors above Huacheng Avenue in central Guangzhou and was designed by Rocco Design Architects Limited.
