Trump University Case: Main Witness Wants Out
It looks like Trump University is schooling us again—only this time in the art of law. Donald Trump’s lawyers are arguing the lawsuit against the “defunct university” cannot go to court if one of the four lead plaintiffs backs out.
According to the complaint, the online educational institution allegedly defrauded students out of $40M in total, according to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
Former student Tarla Makaeff has been dubbed the “poster child” for the case by The Donald’s attorneys. After being awarded $800k in fees, Makaeff wants out, claiming she's been through enough and will not endure further maltreatment, Bloomberg reports.
And if one of the main players no longer wants in, Trump's lawyers argue the case should be tossed on the ground that a large portion of it was built around her statements. [Bloomberg]
