American Apparel Dressing Up Data Center
American Apparel may want to dress you up in its love (and clothes), but the clothing retail chain is looking to dress up its data centers. We learned from an SEC filing that American Apparel completed “the virtualization of over 300 servers, including all our key servers.” The company reports it plans to complete this virtualization this year and will move its data center to an unspecified off-site location. “We believe that this not only maximizes our server resources but will also enhance system performance and enable faster up-time in a disaster recovery situation,” officials state in docs. (Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these data centers from storing your sweater size.)
