Latisys: London Is Just The Beginning
Last week, we reported Latisys' expansion into London, its first foray overseas. We got a little more information about the company's plans beyond London. “We've seen tremendous growth in hosting and private cloud deployments,” Latisys' Jonathan Sharp says. And heading across the pond to London with a customer in tow, “from day one, we'll have revenue in that deployment,” he says. (It beats relying on street performance, which is a pretty saturated market in England.)
Latisys' CEO Peter Stevenson checks out the view of Europe from Ashburn. Unlike in America, Jonathan says Cloud-based solutions are only just gaining traction in Europe. Which means, the continent overall is under-served. He calls Latisys' London presence a “stepping stone.” “If we're going to do this, we're going to commit to it. We're not making this move and expect it to be a one-off node to the side.” While Jonathan didn't outline where next in Europe Latisys would head, he says for now the company will focus on attracting both existing customer and new customer expansion overseas.
