QTS Building Massive Texas Facility

Last week, QTS Realty Trust showed off its transformation of a former 700k SF semiconductor manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art mega data center with a grand opening celebration in Irving, Texas. QTS chairman and CEO Chad Williams (snapped at the event) tells us the facility is part of a 40-acre campus with room to grow by 600k SF. Designed to LEED standards, the facility is structurally reinforced and built with 60' subterranean concrete piers that isolate the building from movement. (So, these crazy North Texas earthquakes won't shake your Internet connection.) The data center is powered by an on-site 140MVA dual-fed substation, Chad tells us. He didn't give a time frame for the future growth.
