E-commerce Fueling Warehouse And Logistics Job Growth In October
When it comes to warehousing and logistics, e-commerce is fueling enormous growth—the sector has added 43,600 new jobs over the past year.
Logistics companies resumed hiring in October after somewhat of a lull in September, adding thousands of jobs in logistics and transportation.
Warehousing and transportation payrolls jumped by 7,500 jobs in October, according to the US Department of Labor, and trucking fleets added 3,000 jobs across the country, the Wall Street Journal reports. Those gains came despite tepid US domestic shipping demand over much of the year.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics also updated their September jobs report to reflect that the industry actually added 1,800 jobs in September. [WSJ]
