Private Equity Fund Exit Volumes Break Records

Private equity exit volumes have been rising since 2012, and just hit a record high of $125B at the end of the second quarter, up from $70B last quarter. The catalyst behind the lucrative record is high valuations, which come from peaking equity markets and previous successful fundraising, according to National Real Estate Investor. In other words, it's become a prime time to sell for high returns--real estate funds included. Property valuations are soaring and competition pushes more sales. Research firm Preqin expects the trend to continue climbing--despite possibly higher interest rates--with most of the distributed capital to make its way into new real estate investments. [NREI]
