Rising Brexit Concerns Send Stocks Sliding For Fourth Day In A Row
US stocks fell for the fourth day in a row as uncertainty over the UK’s future grows and investors await the Fed’s announcement today.
Stocks haven’t fallen this steadily since February, and the fall has left the S&P 500 at a three-week low. Much of that turbulence can be traced to the UK’s June 23 vote on whether the nation will remain in the EU, Bloomberg reports.
And while many were at first skeptical of whether the UK would ever really leave, anxiety is quickly replacing skepticism—Britain’s largest-selling newspaper now supports a Brexit, and five polls in the past two days favor a UK exodus over staying. [Bloomberg]
