Trump Is Scaring Investors

US presidential candidates are creating fear among investors, says Oaktree Capital Group chairman Howard Marks—none more than Donald Trump.
“They’re scaring the hell out of people,” Marks told Bloomberg, citing Trump’s comments that China, Mexico and Japan are stealing US jobs. “People tend to believe him. Then the others compete to be equally as fearful and dramatic.”
And the market is feeling the burn—market turbulence is up 23% this year and 44% in the past 12 months, according to the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index. [Bloomberg]
