The Greenest Places to Visit
With Earth Day this week, everyone's talking about sustainability. If you're looking to extend that to your travels, Hotels.com has come up with the five greenest cities around the globe (which embrace the great outdoors) and hotels there that offer a more environmentally friendly experience. Its list: Milwaukee (the LEED Platinum Brewhouse Inn & Suites); Oslo, Norway (Scandic Byporten); San Francisco (Good Hotel); Phoenix (the LEED-certified Arizona Grand Resort, above); and Singapore (PARKROYAL on Pickering Hotel). And TripAdvisor also released a list of its highest-rated green hotels in the US. The top five: Bardessono in Yountville, Calif.; Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg, Ore.; Hilton Garden Inn in Fayetteville, N.C.; Sleep Inn & Suites in Miles City, Mont.; and Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah. The travel site says 23% of respondents to a recent survey have consciously made an eco-friendly travel choice in the past year.
