West Coast Congressmen Fight to Keep Trump Away from Historic Hotel
Arizona congressman Ruben Gallego and California congressman Tony Cardenas want to keep presidential candidate Donald Trump's name off a new DC hotel, taking offense to Trump's recent immigration statements, the Phoenix Business Journal reports. Trump was chosen by the federal government to develop the Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office complex, which practically neighbors the White House. "The Trump name will forever be linked to anti-immigrant, anti-Latino and anti-women sentiments," Gallego says in his statement to the US Interior Secretary. The West Coast congressmen point to Obama administration efforts to keep the Washington Redskins football team’s name off public lands as precedent for their Trump request. [PBJ]
