Marriott Drives Southern Expansion In Latin America And The Caribbean
Marriott International is expanding its presence in Latin America, recently announcing plans to open four new hotels in Mexico and signing 17 hotels into its Caribbean and Latin America development pipeline this year.
Marriott currently has 70 properties in Mexico, Commercial Property Executive reports, owning more than 200 hotels spread across Latin America and the Caribbean. And now that Marriott and Starwood Hotels & Resort's $13.6B merger is complete, the world's largest hotel owner is juggling 30 brands in more than 33 countries across the globe.
The new hotels are being built to meet growing demand for both business and leisure travel, Marriott International CEO Arne Sorenson says, with buildings planned to open in Cancun, Puebla City and Monterrey. [CPE]
