O’Hare International Airport Gets Huge Hotel Expansion
In an effort to compete with some of the world’s coolest airports, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration recently announced three projects that will more than double O’Hare International Airport’s hotel capacity.
The Chicago Department of Aviation will finance and develop a brand-new hotel with 300 to 400 rooms and as much as 65k SF of conference space. The second hotel will be a bit smaller and part of a new mixed-use commercial development northeast of the airport, Commercial Property Executive reports.
On top of that, the O’Hare Hilton will be renovated to accommodate huge trade shows and events—the City of Chicago says the total combined cost won’t be more than $350M and it expects to finish construction by 2020. [CPE]
