Mixed-Use Towers In SoBro Are No-Go
Chicago-based Smithfield Properties is no longer moving forward with acquisition of nearly four acres at Sixth Avenue S and Ash Street, where it had planned to build a four-building project, The Tennessean reports. The site has direct frontage on I-40 and the under-construction Division Street Extension.
Plans had called for 1.6M SF of office, residential and retail space in four mid- and high-rise towers. Developer Bill Smith said in a statement, cited by the paper, that "I need to be realistic about what we can accomplish in the near term. I know that Nashville and the four-acre site...have a bright future.” [Tennessean]
