SAN FRANCISCO: Affordable Housing’s New Look
If waiting lists in the 500s and 600s mean anything, demand for affordable housing is off the charts around San Francisco. Developers are racing to respond with forward-thinking product, like EAH Housing’s planned 86-unit mixed-use, affordable apartment community in Emeryville. The KTGY Group-designed building at 3706 San Pablo Ave will incorporate a solar photovoltaic system, young adult Zen garden, rooftop skydeck, and child play center, among other amenities. The biggest hurdle for affordable development is always financing, we hear—the Emeryville project won’t start construction for another two years.
