San Fran Median Home Prices Rise 107% Since 2012

Nationwide, the median sale price in May of existing homes was $223,000, still 3% shy of the housing bubble's peak. Venture out to red-hot San Francisco and you find a very different story. The median house price in SF for May was $1.36M while condos have hit a median price of $1.14M. Overall, median prices for all types of homes in the City by the Bay have skyrocketed 107% since Jan. 2012. Of the 1,941 homes sold there during the first five months of the year, only 51 were in the sub-$500K price range. [BI]
