Amazon Says Giant Orbs Will Enhance Company Culture
Amazon has always been a bit ahead of its time. It led the e-commerce game decades before retailers got on board, and is now opening brick-and-mortar locations amidst mass industry closures and consolidations.
The e-commerce giant is in the final stages of construction on its three gigantic spheres in downtown Seattle, which it boasts will enhance its company's culture.
The spheres overlook Amazon’s 500-foot-tall office tower and will become a tourist attract when it opens in 2018, hosting more than 300 plant species from around the world.
The online retailer says the 100-foot-tall orbs will add to its workplace amenities. Once complete, employees will have the freedom to de-stress from the job with a walk in the gardens, or even host meetings in the orbs. [Bloomberg]
