Uber Continues Office Expansion
Uber, set to grow into Uptown Station in Oakland in 2017 and a new Mission Bay campus in 2018, is expanding its Mid-Market HQ, leasing 48,876 SF more to take up about a third of 1455 Market St.
The ridesharing company took over space previously leased by Rocketfuel and Bank of America, Hudson Pacific Properties reported in its Q4 earnings. Uber has nearly tripled its San Francisco workforce in the past year, according to the San Francisco Business Times.
Before the latest expansion, Uber was leasing about 220k SF at 1455 Market St. It also has 173k SF leased at 555 Market St, is co-developing 422k SF with Alexandria Real Estate Equities in Mission Bay and purchased Oakland's Uptown Station (the former Sears Building) at the end of last year. The company owns or leases about 1.2M SF of office space in the Bay Area. [SFBT]
