Blackstone Real Estate Duo Racks Up $35B in Deals in 10 Months
The co-heads of Blackstone Group’s US property acquisitions unit have racked up $35B in deals since being named to their posts in January.
Nadeem Meghji and Tyler Henritze were tasked with finding and figuring out how to acquire properties across the US—such as the Willis Tower, the-second tallest building in the country—taking orders directly from Jon Gray, Bloomberg reports.
Their most recent transaction was for Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village, a $5.3B deal where Blackstone will partner with Ivanhoé Cambridge. Once the deal closes in December, Blackstone will be among NYC’s largest residential landlords.
Henritze, 35, joined Blackstone in 2004 after working as an analyst at Merrill Lynch. Meghji, also 35, was working for a small real estate fund in Houston when he approached and was hired by Blackstone in 2008. [Bloomberg]
