Architecture Billings Index Increases in May
After posting a decline in April for the second time this year, the ABI returned to positive territory last month. Led by growing demand for institutional facilities, the May ABI score rose to 51.9, an increase from April’s mark of 48.8. A leading economic indicator of construction activity, any score above 50 suggests a rise in billings. Regionally, the South and Midwest led the way at 54.6 and 52.3, respectively. Sector highlights included institutional facilities with a score of 55.2 and mixed practice coming in at 52.5.
