Clinton Campaign Leases Brooklyn HQ
The woman (likely!) vying to be America's first female president will base her (probable) campaign in the County of Kings. Sources familiar with the deal say that the Clinton team has inked a lease for 80K SF spanning two full floors at 1 Pierrepont Plaza, just off the East River in Brooklyn Heights. If legit, the lease signing likely signals that Clinton's official announcement about the 2016 race is coming soon. The Federal Election Commission requires a campaign to announce itself within 15 days of starting campaign activity, which could include real estate deals.
Huma Abedin, Clinton's chief of staff and the wife of Anthony Weiner, checked out the digs and picturesque surrounding neighborhood a few weeks ago. Forest City Ratner owns the property, whose website bills it as "Modern Offices. Brooklyn Cool." [Politico]
