On The Floor Of BOMA International's Expo: Day Three
During today's expo, we snapped the Rubbermaid Commercial Products team of Jennifer Herring, Marty Lippert, Jason Cianciolo and Jim McBride in front of the company's Enhance line of premium decorative refuse containers. (The line will officially launch in September.)
Each container can be easily customized to match a client's decor and waste stream, Marty tells us. The BOMA Cornerstone Partner can even label the containers to drive recycling compliance within the workplace, which impacts a tenant's efficiency and sustainability goals.
Trane's Rachel Nilsson, Kim Boyd, David Pirkey, April Braun and Keri Taylor were promoting the firm’s Tracer Ensemble Tenant Services energy management system feature, which allows property managers and owners to track and charge tenants for after-hours energy use. It was in soft launch for the expo and will be officially introduced in September. Trane is also one of BOMA's Cornerstone Partners.
Kone's Peter Jauregui demonstrates his company's virtual reality headset, which allows you to see yourself inside one of its MonoSpace 500 elevators and witness different looks (such as changes to the wall material, lighting and grab bars) in real time. There are over 100 options to customize the look of each cab.
MonoSpace, introduced in 1996, was one of the first machine room-less elevators, he tells us, which gives architects and designers more space for other building uses.
The BOMAPAC raffle raised more than $9k this year, and three lucky people who contributed left the expo floor with generous prizes. BOMA International's Joel Corley, above, won a $1k gift card to Tiffany & Co. Not pictured: Mazzei Realty Services' Ed Mazzei, a BOMA Fellow, won an American Express gift card, and BOMA/San Francisco's Marc Intermaggio won a Williams-Sonoma gift card.
Several gamification prizes were given out as well to reward those who collected the most codes on their app throughout the conference", ranging from $100 to $1,500. Hailing from Cleveland, Sarah Peters (above with BOMA International's Lisa Prats) won the $1,500 grand prize, continuing an unprecedented run of good fortune for her city.
We bumped into Shalom Limon and Stephanie Sanchez, who are property managers at Port San Antonio. The property is the former Kelly Air Force Base and is now a 1,900-acre industrial complex, home to over 70 public and private organizations centered in the aerospace, logistics, manufacturing, government and military sectors. Its 8M SF of real estate includes hangars, workshops, warehouses, offices, training centers and workforce housing.
We also snapped Stuart Dean Co's Susie Holland with Akridge's Eddy Alvarado, Mary Lynch and Scott Gaiser. The USAA-owned and Akridge-managed 700 Sixth Street in Washington, DC, is vying for an International TOBY Award in the 250k to 499k SF category; the building was one of DC's first LEED Platinum CS office buildings and remains the largest to date. It also features the largest green roof on a private sector building in the city.
