Position: VP of asset management with McCarthy Cook & Co; vice chair of BOMA International.
Where you're located: Costa Mesa, CA.
Responsibilities: I am head of asset management for all McCarthy Cook properties located in California. The portfolio consists of approximately 3M SF.
How he got involved in property management: I was a leasing broker for a building that RREEF purchased, and RREEF hired me to run the asset. RREEF’s philosophy was that its leasing personnel also should manage the assets, so I quickly learned the property management side of the business, too.
Industry and life extracurriculars: At BOMA International’s annual conference in Los Angeles later this month, I will become chair-elect of the organization. I also am the immediate past president of BOMA California. I serve as the chief of my daughters’ YMCA Indian Princess tribe, and I coach both of their softball and soccer teams.
Daily habit: Each night, when I put the kids to sleep, I say, “Bad dreams, bad dreams go away, good dreams, good dreams here to stay."
Favorite book: The Match by Mark Frost.
Favorite music: I like all music, but country music (Zac Brown Band or Garth Brooks) is my favorite right now.
Favorite movie: Forrest Gump.
Favorite restaurant: Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn, NY.
Favorite vacation: Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island of Hawaii.
First job: Paperboy.
Job in another life: General manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Item on bucket list: Safari in Africa.
Person he'd like to meet, dead or alive: Babe Ruth.
Family life: I am married to my beautiful wife, Erin, and have three awesome kids: Emma (10), Maggie (7) and Jack (2).
Startling fact: The summer before my senior year in college, I drove to the North Pole, Alaska, with my best friend.
