Amazon Continues Brick-And-Mortar Expansion
As brick-and-mortar retailers continue to struggle, Amazon (AMZN) continues to pump up its brick-and-mortar with a new student bookstore at Georgia Tech.
Amazon’s expansion into the student bookstore space threatens Barnes & Noble Education (BNED)—spun off from Barnes & Noble—which currently dominates the space, RetailDive reports.
That dominance could come to an end soon. Barnes & Noble Education reported a loss in the most recent quarter on the heels of declining same-store sales.
It doesn't look like Amazon will slow down, either. The company plans to open four similar locations in 2016 at the University of Pennsylvania, UC Davis, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Akron. [RD]
