Apple to Debut First Next-Generation Retail Stores
Apple stores are about to get a makeover to upgrade the brand's experience and image, company rep Rick Millitello says, calling the project "the next generation of retail." The first such store is set to open at one of Apple's original stores, just east of Memphis in Germantown's Shops of Saddle Creek mall, the 20th of 453 total. Rick says the revamped store will boast new oak tables and matte "granite reinforced panel on the exterior." There'll be changeable displays, living plants and more. Apple chief designer Jony Ive and retail head Angela Ahrendts are in charge of the overhaul being done in hopes that a better interior will help push the trendy Apple watch. In July, product packaging got a new design for a "premium" feel, and now it's the stores turn to match. [AI]
