Retail Revamp: Target Looks To Boost Sales With New Children’s Line
Though most retailers are going after the Millennial shopper, Target has its eyes set on children.
In an effort to revitalize its brand in a struggling sector, the retailer will launch its very own children’s line, Cat & Jack. It will cater to children ages 4 to 12 and will replace Target’s former brands—Cherokee and Circo—through which the retailer had license agreements. The two brands accounted for roughly $1B in sales and will be replaced with the Cat & Jack line later this month, Bloomberg reports.
Target has been working to regain its footing ever since its same-store sales took a hit in 2008, slipping by 2.9%, and the 1,800-store chain believes revamping its children’s line is just the ticket. [Bloomberg]
