Tesla To Add Retail, Restaurants To Supercharger Stations
Tesla wants to add something extra to its Supercharger stations around the country. It plans to partner with restaurants and convenience stores to add food, restrooms and other amenities to these stations, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports. Typical Tesla owners tend to spend about 20 minutes to 30 minutes at these stations, which tend not to have a lot of amenities nearby, according to Tesla executive JB Straubel.
These partnerships could create additional revenue for the electric vehicle manufacturer. The Silicon Valley company did not indicate when these amenities might be added to the stations. Tesla also is planning to add more stations throughout the country and could bring its chargers to 10,000 by the end of 2017. The current count is 951 stations and 6,500 chargers.
