Walmart Is Falling Behind In E-Commerce
With the e-commerce boom underway, Walmart is falling behind, reporting only 8% growth in online sales for Q4. Fellow giants Amazon and Target saw 22% and 34% increases, respectively, over the same period.
As e-commerce in general grew 14.6% over that time, 8% growth means Walmart isn’t keeping pace with the market, retail futurist Doug Stephens told Retail Dive.
That isn’t for lack of trying. The superstore is in the midst of a push for growth, spending over $1B to improve wages, working environments and training, along with looking for top tech talent to boost its e-commerce presence. [RetailDive]
