The Man Who Transformed NYC’s Skyline Says The Luxury Market Is Oversaturated
Though Ismael Leyva has designed at least 65 buildings in New York City with 12 more coming, the designer is worried about the city's affordability.
Leyva's building designs fill several city blocks—he's worked on projects like the Time Warner Center and the Battery Maritime Building, and is currently designing a residential tower at Hudson Yards, Business Insider reports.
He's worried that the proliferation of luxury apartments and rising land prices, which have jumped 53% from 2009 to 2014, is making it impossible to build reasonably priced apartments. [BI]
