More Than Fancy HQs: 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Twitter/Square CEO Jack Dorsey

Last week was a good week for Jack Dorsey. Now CEO of two multibillion-dollar companies, Dorsey has cemented his place in entrepreneurship history.

So we know he's been named permanent CEO of Twitter and that his other company, Square, is about to go public. We also know that those HQs are sweet and his own personal pad is even sweeter.

But here are five other things you probably didn't know.

1. Like many other tech mavens, Jack dropped out of two colleges.

In 1995, Jack enrolled in the University of Missouri in Rolla, majoring in computer science and math. During his junior year, Jack hacked into the website of Dispatch Management Services, which managed bike messengers in NYC. He called company chairman Greg Kidd, who in turn wanted to hire him as a software developer.

Jack took the position while transferring to New York University under "parental pressure." At the end of 1999, Jack and Greg left the dispatching company to move to San Fran, prompting him to drop out of NYU a semester short of graduating.

2. Jack interviewed President Obama during his first Twitter Town Hall. The meeting made history as Obama became the first President to live tweet.

As one of the founders of Twitter, Jack had the opportunity to meet and interview President Obama as part of Twitter Town Hall, or a time when the President answered questions from users everywhere via Twitter.

3. Jack takes the bus to commute to work.

As CEO of two multibillion dollar companies, Jack still takes the 7:06 a.m. bus to work. "I love the bus," he told the New Yorker in 2013. It’s consistent, and it runs every few minutes. But it’s also express. If I took another bus, it’d be stopping." While riding, Jack likes to check out the mobile phone behavior of other commuters, saying that he saw the rise of Vine and Snapchat that way. Market research, right?

4. One of Jack's favorite hobbies is flying planes.

5. Jack is into fashion, once aspiring to be a fashion designer.

Jack is considered to be one of the most stylish men in tech, donning leather jackets and Prada slim suits. Looking sharp, Jack.
