Airbnb App Is Giving Users Something To Chew On With This New Restaurant Reservation System
Airbnb is getting into bed with the restaurant industry.
The home-sharing service is now giving users the ability to book tables at more than 600 restaurants across the U.S. This move is part of Airbnb’s push to provide travelers with a full experience that goes beyond the home.
The company has partnered with Resy in order to develop an in-app feature that allows guests to easily search for the type of food they want in the language in which they communicate.
Because approximately 50% of Airbnb users are international, according to a study performed last year, the company recognized the app needed to have the ability to translate a number of different languages to appeal to a broad user base.
Customer adoption is expected to be high. According to Airbnb, guests spent more than $6.5B at restaurants in 44 markets around the world last year. In addition, Resy already has 1.6 million registered users under its belt, in addition to having seated 25 million diners since its inception.
Participating restaurants curated in the app are high-quality local favorites and award winners, as mentioned in the release.
The new reservation system will be available in markets including New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Miami, Charleston, Austin, Seattle, Denver, Portland, Atlanta, New Orleans and Nashville.
