Airbnb Pushes Home-Sharing Benefits For Seniors
Airbnb’s latest claim in its fight against regulations popping up in cities like NYC and San Francisco is that the platform provides critical income for seniors.
That’s according to a recent report Airbnb released, which paints home-sharing as a source of income that helps older people afford to keep living in their homes, Fortune reports. The report points out that as seniors age mortgage payments often take up an increasingly larger percentage of their income, sometimes so large they are forced out of their homes.
Airbnb says that as of April, hosts over the age of 60 have earned $757M using the platform, and argues that the company helps some 320,000 seniors make ends meet. [Fortune]
