Delivery-Only Restaurants Are The Newest Industry Disruptor
The newest class of restaurants has no chairs or tables. Instead, they take orders online or via apps and then deliver the food to your door.
From New York City to Chicago, brands like Ando and Seaside provide customers with their version of on-demand dining, a trend experts said appeals to younger generations who grew up with similar services, like Netflix, Forbes reports. The trend is growing — New York’s Green Summit Group raised $3.6M, expanded to Chicago and expects to make $18M in sales this year.
Experts said delivery-only eateries are incredibly cost-effective, largely because they save big on rent by operating in cheaper, smaller locations. UK-based Deliveroo pioneered a similar strategy in Europe, and has since raised almost $500M and expanded to 12 countries, including Hong Kong and Australia.
