Google Could Pay Customers For Shutting Down Smart-Home Devices
Nest, Google’s smart-home company, is shutting down a line of existing smart-home devices—and it’s considering paying off customers for their troubles.
Nest tweeted as much on its official Twitter account:
@rmacanthony @nestsupport We're continuing to work w/ customers on a case-by-case basis to find the best resolution, including compensation.

Nest acquired Revolv, a company that makes hubs to control house lights, security features and other smart-home devices, in 2014—but the deal was mostly to pick up Revolv’s talented team, Business Insider reports.
Nest promptly stopped selling Revolv products, and a month ago Nest said it would shut down support of the products; not surprisingly, Revolv owners weren’t happy.
The drama around Revolv isn’t the only trouble Nest has been dealing with—employees at the company have been disgruntled, saying they work long hours to hit unmanageable deadlines. [BI]
