Google has announced plans to expand its operations in Douglas County. The search engine giant plans to invest $300M to build an expansion to its Lithia Springs data center, one of thirteen data centers that Google has spread around the world. Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that 25 new jobs will be created and there could be even more of an investment coming. This is the second recent investment in Georgia by the company following January’s announcement that they would bring gigabit-per-second service to nine metro Atlanta cities. Construction is slated to begin this summer and will be completed by 2016. [AJC]
