Uber Completes Two-Billionth Ride
Seems like Hungary wasn’t a critical market for Uber after all—the ride-sharing behemoth just tracked its two-billionth trip.
That’s according to CEO Travis Kalanick, who this week posted on Facebook that Uber had hit 2 billion rides on June 18, only six months after marking the first billion. That means the company clocked the same number of rides in the last six months as it did in its first six years, and that’s been possible due to the firm’s heavy recruiting, Reuters reports.
In its short life span the company has received more than $13B in funding from investors, and it now operates in 450 cities around the world, up from 311 a year ago. [Reuters]
