Lendlease Names New Head Of $21B Development Pipeline In The Americas
Lendlease, an Australian contractor and developer, promoted San Francisco-based Meg Spriggs to managing director of development for the Americas.
Spriggs will oversee a $21B development pipeline that includes projects in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and the Bay Area. She is set to take over the role Oct. 1.
With 23 years in the development business, Spriggs serves as head of residential for Lendlease’s partnership with Google to plan and develop four neighborhoods in the Bay Area. She previously held roles at Shorenstein Properties and AvalonBay Communities.
“Meg’s collaborative nature and innovative approach coupled with her expertise in market-driven real estate strategy allow her to navigate complex development projects with precision and excellence,” Lendlease Americas CEO Claire Johnston said in a press release. “I am confident she will expertly support regional leadership as we continue scaling our Development business, leveraging the capabilities of Lendlease’s integrated platform.”
Among the projects in Lendlease’s pipeline is a $545M life sciences development the company is building in conjunction with Ivanhoé Cambridge. Part of Boston Landing, a mixed-use development in Boston’s Allston-Brighton area, the project topped out this week.
But in San Francisco, another Lendlease project isn’t making such progress. The company stopped work on the $1.2B Hayes Point office and apartment development in August, citing market conditions.
In July, Lendlease cut 740 jobs globally, about 10% of its 7,800-person workforce.
A spokesperson told Reuters at the time that the move was part of a five-year turnaround plan and wouldn't impact project delivery.
